What is Hydrographic Printing?
Hydrographics is the process of dipping a 3-deminsional object through a chemically activated poly-vinyl ink film floating on water to transfer the image or pattern to the surface of the Object.
What can be printed?
Just about anything-any material that can hold a 2 stage base paint coat and can be submerged into water safely. Non-porous materials such as metal, wood, plastic, stone, glass, and ceramic are ideal for dipping.
How durable is the finish?
Our dipped parts are protected with an automotive grade urethane clear coat. Matte, Satin, or Glossy clear coats are available to protect the finish and will be just as durable as an automotive paint finish and will provide UV protection.
Popular Items:
Automotive parts, wheels, interior trim, exterior trim, engine and underhood components
Motorcycles tanks, fenders, frames, wheels and controls
Firearms, Bows, ATV's, golf carts, game controllers
Marine parts, motors, trim and wheelhouse items
Musical instruments, guitars, amps
Mailboxes, light fixtures
Questions:
Q. Why are there different shades of the same pattern such as camo and carbon fiber?
A. The shade can be changed by changing the color of the base coat paint applied. If a white base coat is used the pattern will appear much lighter in color. If a darker base coat is used, the pattern will be much darker. Check out some of the images and you can see the differences. We will work with you to determine the right shade of base coat to best match your object.
Q. How do you get colored patterns?
A. We use colored base coats and candy/colored clear coats to achieve that finish.
